2019: Kaduna Women Rally Against Election Violence

Ahead of the 2019 general election, women in Kaduna State, recently held a peaceful rally in Kaduna against election violence.

The women who were accompanied by their men counterparts and youths and teenagers trooped out in their number, carrying placards with different inscriptions like; “anything violence can do, Peace can do better.

“For a better long haul. let there be Peace for all. Give Peace a chance. Hear the call for Peace for all.

“North, South, East, West, Let Peace be our Quest. Peace is a weapon through which we can change the whole world! Violence breeds violence. let’s breed peace.

“We work as a team, because Peace is our Dream. When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace. Where there is love there is peace. You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Organizer of the rally, Philomena Talatu Zamani, National Coordinator Women Situation Room, urged the women to ensure that the elections is Peaceful.

According to her, “as peacemakers we have the capacity to discourage our youths, husband’s and immediate communities to shun violence during this general elections.”

She urged INEC and the security personnel present to remain non partisan.

The over 550 people walked from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Takau to INEC office.
